These scenarios are far-fetched for most college students. Yet a new virtual reality experiment aims to make them possible. Ten higher education institutions across the U.S. have signed up to create digital versions of themselves that look 3D and feel immersive when accessed by students wearing VR headsets. Drawing on lingo that has gained popularity among tech entrepreneurs, these online simulations of colleges are being called “metaversities.”

Although a single product isn't sufficient to defend against all modern security threats, the general recommendation persists because the technology remains effective in blocking categories of known threats and cleaning up malware infections if they find their way onto your computer.

First of ALL, there isn’t ANYTHING for FREE in this world, even the death costs the life and a lot of money for the funerals ;)

SO… Let us analyse WHY WE get Social Media and other services on the internet for “FREE“. BTW: there isn’t anything for FREE, WE pay with OUR information which the companies are gathering!

The Electronic Privacy Information Center filed the complaint Thursday, asking the FTC to impose sanctions on Facebook. The study violated terms of a 20-year consent decree that requires the social-networking company must protect its users’ privacy, EPIC said. EPIC also wants Facebook to be forced to disclose the algorithms it uses to determine what appears in users’ news feeds.

A class-action suit claims that the social networking site monitors and uses your messages for advertising purposes.

 

The class-action lawsuit, submitted by Arkansas lawyer Matt Campbell and Michael Hurley from Oregon on Monday at the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, says that the social networking giant monitors users' private messages in order to compile and mine data which can be used to profile web activity.

L'option qui permettait d'empêcher quiconque de trouver son profil Facebook via une recherche par nom ne sera bientôt plus disponible.

"Facebook étend le périmètre de recherche de Graph Search", du 01/10/13), cette modification va encore dans le sens d'une ouverture des données des utilisateurs : via le nouveau moteur, ils peuvent en effet être trouvés depuis quelques mois à travers n'importe quelle information : la localisation, un film "liké", un évènement...
