Who's in Control? Minimalism in the Modern Learning Classroom

Who's in Control? Minimalism in the Modern Learning Classroom | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

A couple of years ago my 10th Grade advisees asked my help in conveying to the rest of the faculty how overwhelming their technology demands were becoming.  Just in terms of note-taking, for me and my partner teacher they were required to use Evernote, for another teacher they were expected to use Google Drive, in another class they were asked to use Dropbox and in another—with a more traditional teacher—they were tasked with organizing a three-ring binder. (With real paper!)

Why (And How) Teachers and Education Should Start Learning and Teaching Cyber-Security | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it

Why (And How) Teachers Should Start Learning and Teaching Cyber-Security . What should get be taught and learned more in the 21st Century while using ICT?

In the 21st Century, Education has a BIG responsibility to adapt to the very quick change in the world and to teach the students the knowledge they need and which are required to fulfill the market’s needs!

The market’s needs are ALSO to employ people with the basics of Cyber-Security knowledge as a modern company needs to protect its online reputation and a data loss could be lethal to them, their ruin eventually! SO, the new employees is the students coming out of school, College, High school, Universities; ALL of them need to have the basic knowledge of  Cyber-Security to be competitive in a working market where there is more and more unemployment worldwide…

===> A company would take advantage of a new employee who as already the necessary knowledge of Cyber-Security as the company doesn’t need to train him, which saves it a lot of money! <===

One Device to Rule Them All?

One Device to Rule Them All? | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
We see posts all the time that tote one device's superiority over another. Things like, "Why the _______ is the clear winner in K-12 education" or "The _____ is now in ___ percent of all classrooms...

Trying to find one device that will be THE device students will ever need is like saying the only tool a handyman will ever need is a screwdriver. If we want students to be creators, publishers, and global contributors we shouldn’t limit them to only one platform.

Something suitable for a primary grade student isn’t necessarily suitable for an 8th grader. We must be ready; and okay with this.

How Teachers Can Best Use Education Technology

How Teachers Can Best Use Education Technology | 21st Century Learning and Teaching | Scoop.it
Edtech isn't the final solution for education's problems. It's a powerful addition to classrooms though, so it's time to ask: what is the point of education technology?

===> The point is simple. Teachers need to be able to understand how to embed technology into what they do. But you can’t do this unless you’re already a good teacher. The technological side of it only comes into to play if you already knew how to balance pedagogical knowledge with content (subject) knowledge. Only then can you understand how best to integrate an iPad into a classroom. <===
