20 years back when I was working in a robot lab - we used to talk about autonomous water based robots for apps such as pollution detection and marine ecological mapping. 20 years later intelligent robotic fish that are capable of working together to detect and identify pollution in ports and other aquatic areas have been developed adn are being tested.
