Brainstorming is sometimes a spur-of-the-moment activity. Arguably, the best tool for generating ideas remains the humble pen and paper. Again arguably, the second best tools are mobile phones and tablets.

MindMup is a tool used to breakdown information. Great tool for primary students when looking at stories where they need to break the story down into the characters, environment etc.

I've tried it. It works exactly as one would expect a plain and basic tool to work. It is not suitable for elaborate mind maps or diagrams but for young students it may work fine.

the importance of icons and symbols in "mind maps" or outlines, webs, anything like that. symbols can have a much broader meaning and definition, bringing ideas and memories up quicker than a vague word or phrase.
