...the day to celebrate the cocktail. The daiquiri is rum-based invented by an American mining engineer named Jennings Cox. One legend has it that Cox created the first daiquiri in 1898 in the village of Daiquiri, Cuba (about 4 miles east of Santiago de Cuba) after he ran out of gin while entertaining American guests at a small bar. As with most days, more than one celebration is in store. Not too sure the two go together at the same time but you never know. Maybe one could be incorporated in the other. Each of us have individual tastes so what is good to one may not be so for the other and visa versa. The celebrations at hand consist of one food and one beverage.
