"With at least 365 reasons to celebrate, not a single day goes by in a calendar year without something different being on the calendar each one of those days. The number of actual celebrations add to a number greater than 365 since some days boast more than one observance. A 'more than one' celebration is ready to be fulfilled! Just be sure not to stop with the first one!

Whoever is responsible for establishing various days of celebration certainly have a certain wit about 'them'. Today is a prime example. When you think about 'sacrificing' cheese, what comes first to your mind? Buying the best of the best and giving it away as a gift? That would indeed be a sacrifice. Of course, not without trying it first! Then, there are always the scrumptious recipes that call for a generous portion of cheese. Don't you 'sacrifice' the really good cheeses for super delicious dishes? Well, there is an altogether different possibility which is not so appetizing and a bit quirky to say the least. July 29 is... Cheese Sacrifice Purchase Day

My! My! My! It's Pie! Pie! Pie! Not just any pie but this pie is filled with blueberries, or star berries as the Native Americans called them. The humble blueberry is one of few blue foods, one of nature’s super foods, and one that is native to the Americas. The state of Maine is the larger producer of blueberries in the world with more than 60,000 acres being farmed. In the United States and Canada, harvesting season can run from early May in the warmer portions to the end of August in the northern-most area. April 28 is... National Blueberry Pie Day

The term 'upside down' is not always positively speaking. However, on this day, it is definitely a day to be upside down and lovin' it! When it comes to baking, this delight was originally made in a skillet, thus, called 'skillet cake'. Fruit was placed in the skillet with batter poured on top, then, baked, inverted and voila! the bottom becomes a beautifully decorated top. April 20 is... Pineapple Upside-Down Cake Day

At first glance, this next celebration might appear to be one of the few non-sweet days. That is, of course, if you overlook the dark brown sugar, molasses or honey. Then, more likely than not, the next thought will reflect upon Thanksgiving or Christmas. However, there is no written or verbal law, stating that you can only enjoy this specialty's nice and crispy caramelized sugar-coated outside skin in November or December. April 15... National Glazed Spiral Ham Day

A kid's staple in the brown-bag school lunch, as well as an all-time favorite snack, is the peanut butter and jelly sandwich, aka the PB&J. Of course, the same can be said for some adults since the PB&J has no age limit. That's because you get a lot of calories in a hurry when your energy level has bottomed out. Plus, it just tastes grr-r-r-reat! April 2 is... National Peanut Butter and Jelly Day

Some things are meant to go together - bacon & eggs, apple pie & ice cream, strawberries & cream, peanut butter & jelly, peas & carrots, burger & fries, pizza & beer, cookies & milk, coffee & doughnuts, the synergy goes on and on. Um-m-m-m? Looks like chocolate was left off the list...not quite! March 19 is... Chocolate Caramel Day

With today being St. Patrick's Day, what foodie do you think is up for celebration? Think green...could it be a scrumptious cake decorated with green sugar shamrocks? What about the key lime pie? Definitely tantalizing with its key limes as the center of attention. Then, of course, there are those veggies of which a plethora of green choices exist. Today would have been a terrific day to celebrate the heart of the artichoke but that day has already been on the calendar. All 'bout the 'choke provided you numerous recipes for your pleasure or experimentation. That is past but this is present... March 17 is... Corned Beef and Cabbage Day

"When eating a sandwich, one of the most often partners is that munchy, crunchy potato chip goodness! The perfect match. As the sandwich's best buddy, there is just one problem: It's as bad as peanuts - Betcha can't eat just one!"

There are songs about apples (mostly for kids :-)), a company named Apple, poems about apples, stories about apples but the best is the deliciousness of the fruit. Some varieties of red apples include Gala, McIntosh, Red Delicious, Fuji and Honeycrisp. Golden Delicious and Ginger Gold are yellow, Crispin is a green-yellow, and Granny Smith is a green apple. Braeburn, Cortland, Empire, Jonathan and Rome are some of the most-produced U.S. apples. WHEW! That's a lot of apples! March 11 is... Johnny Appleseed Day

The Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem of the United States of America. It was written by Francis Scott Key. National Anthem Day celebrates the rich history behind its creation. The song officially became our national anthem on March 3, 1931 by a congressional resolution signed by President Herbert Hoover. It has been assumed by a few people that National Anthem Day is September 14, the day the song was written. This is incorrect. National Anthem Day is every March 3rd, in celebration of the day that congress made the Star-Spangled Banner our national anthem.

During the month of May, you could have indulged on any day since it was National Hamburger Month. Then, you were encouraged on May 28th to Have it your way! on National Hamburger Day in National Hamburger Month. According to wikipedia, May 28th is International Hamburger Day and August 27th is National Burger Day. That gave you a choice or you could have simply celebrated on both days since you may have been eating burgers all month anyway. Whew! May 28th is also designated as National Burger Day in the UK, which was launched in 2013.

"What is your favorite nut...and I don't mean comedian? There have been many opportunities throughout the year to celebrate different kinds of nuts from the actual nut itself to various nutty recipes to those smothered, covered or dipped in chocolate. The nut for this next celebration had you Feelin' Nutty back in November making the statement "Sometimes you feel like a nut, sometimes you don't" followed by the question "...but when do you NOT feel like a cashew?"
Just saying the word makes you want to pull a handful out of a can or bag and chomp, chomp, chomp away! Then, to completely cover them in chocolate is absolutely sinful! But, let's do it!
April 21 is... Chocolate-Covered Cashews Day"

The myth than garlic deters vampires is commonplace thanks to Hollywood and popular literature, so today "Vampires, beware!" Did you know it is also thought to protect against the evil eye and to ward off jealous nymphs said to terrorize pregnant women and engaged maidens? In addition, despite its pungent odor and taste, garlic enhances the flavor of almost any kind of food anywhere in the world and is well known for its diverse medicinal properties.

When thoughts come to comfort foods, sour is more than likely not the first word that comes to mind (unless you are a lemon lover!). Ah-h-h! At the top of the list is probably bread with the best of the best being homemade. The aroma is so inviting it is not unusual for anyone to simply stand around in anticipation of that first right-out-of-the oven, slathered-with-butter, melt-in-the-mouth first bite! YUM! April 1 is... National Sourdough Bread Day

Foodie fun for this day targets the sweet tooth and is filled with nutritional goodness! Main ingredient...oatmeal, which is truly beneficial for reducing cholesterol and maintaining healthy hearts. The combination of slow-burning carbs and fiber found in oats is a great fuel source for breakfast. Not into the full meal deal for breakfast...grab a few cookies along with a cold glass of milk! Yum! March 18 is... National Lacy Oatmeal Cookie Day

Some foods are just good. Others fall within the classification scrumptious. There are even some you might call exciting. But what do you say about the artichoke? It's a vegetable with arching, deeply lobed, silvery, glaucous-green leaves (according to Wikepedia, that is). People who cook with culinary flair (Food Network, for example) say the artichoke 'goes great in just about anything and dazzles on its own as well. Use it in panzanella salad, pasta and more tasty dishes." What do you think? March 16... National Artichoke Hearts Day

As with most days, more than one celebration is in store. Not too sure the two go together at the same time but you never know. Maybe one could be incorporated in the other. Each of us have individual tastes so what is good to one may not be so for the other and visa versa. The celebrations at hand consist of one food and one beverage.

Yep! Another food holiday...not just any food but chocolate...not just any chocolate nor chocolate alone but chocolate swirling over, under, around and through salty peanuts! WOW! A crunchy bunch of peanuts held together by chocolate! With all the chocolate and nutty days already celebrated, why not one more! Right? Dieting went to pot during Thanksgiving and Christmas, now the push for chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate is making weight watching almost an impossibility. March 8 is...
