Archeology in mountains | Human Interest | Scoop.it
Web treasures of Janez Bizjak, Miran Bremšak and other field researchers of Slovenian Alps. They have been visiting hills and mountains for 30 years. Lately together with a group of archaeologists, documenting what they have discovered so far. In particular many remains of the surface mining of iron ore 3000 years ago, then megalithic and other prehistoric reminants from 5-6000 years ago. Megalithic circle below Krn in Alps is Slovenian Stonehenge, about which many books were written. Despite these are all just guesses, such round formation of stones at 1000 m above see level might served for rites, treatments, observation the moon and the sun. Some photos are available of the remains of iron ore sites, tools, pottery and other objects, found nearby, including very simple floor plans of buildings.
