Although there have been conflicting reports on the benefits of omega-3 fish oil, a new study indicates that it’s still a good idea to take the supplement.

 

Scientists at the Linus Pauling Institute of Oregon State University analyzed studies of omega-3 fish oil supplements and reached several conclusions. They said that taking the supplement, as well as eating fatty fish, may prevent heart disease, and that the supplement could be beneficial for serious health problems besides heart disease.

As I side note don't buy the cheap stuff sold at drugstores, grocery stores and big box buying clubs. When you go for price you sacrifice quality!

Curcumin (extracted from the spice turmeric) is currently one of the most studied natural remedies.

 

A recent controlled study, published in the American Journal of Cardiology involved administering curcumin (or sugar pills) to bypass patients.

 

Those given curcumin pills had significantly lower levels of inflammation and oxidative stress indicators, as well as a 65% reduced risk of heart attack following the bypass surgery.

The U.S. National Poison Data System has published its 2010 annual report on poisonings.

 

There are 60 billion doses of vitamin and mineral supplements taken per year in the USA, with zero fatalities reported.

 

Of all reports made to Poison Control, those that involved vitamins or minerals caused zero deaths (and very few incidents).

 

There were no reported deaths related to multiple vitamins, any of the B vitamins, vitamins A, C, D, or E; or any other vitamin.

 

There was a small number of incidents listed under minerals. These mainly related to iron (not supplement pills) and sodium.
