Macroeconomics: UK economy, IB Economics

Phillip Inman's article in today's Observer highlights the forthcoming publication of a book that documents the extent to which the UK has rolled out the red carpet to US firms encouraging to locate here. It highlights the lack of regulation, the subsidies and the tax breaks that we've offered, and they've been so keen to avail themselves of at the same time as controlling an increasing share of UK economic activity, such as in cloud computing, for example.

It's an interesting read: but given the Naughton piece on Eire, might you argue that it's not so much a country-specific approach but more a feature of the contemporary global economy, and that everyone's doing it.
