We are the country taking the energy crisis least seriously. Even Shell’s boss is baffled | Will Hutton | The Guardian

Blinded by ideology, the government is determined to pursue its own, self-defeating approach. Will it leave us all in the dark this winter?
Graham Watson's insight:

Will Hutton's column looking at the government's handling of the energy crisis, unfavourably comparing it with that adopted in the US and continental Europe.

The £150bn energy support programme is, in his view, ill-thought out and unfair, and the government's apparent unwillingness to fund a £15m information campaign encouraging us to be more energy efficient mystifying, not least given that the CEO of Shell seems to assume that higher taxes on energy companies are inevitable.

It is a clash of world views - the interventionist versus the libertarian - and only time will tell which is the most appropriate approach.

Has the zeitgeist changed? Are well all social democrats/Keynesians now?
