The virus is one of three "once in a lifetime" recent economic shocks says the Resolution Foundation.

One for the "We're All in It Together" file, as the Resolution Foundation notes that the Covid crisis is going to reduce wages by £1,200 per year by 2025, particularly among the low-skilled.

Men with fewer qualifications are more likely to be affected by Brexit trade barriers, the IFS says.

The latest IFS research suggests that, guess what, those most at risk from Brexit are the least skilled. 'Twas ever thus - skills give you productivity and factor mobility, and it begs the question why so many of these people voted for Brexit in the first place.

Boris Johnson says the availability of workers from overseas has helped some big firms hold down wages. Is he right?

The BBC's Reality Check has looked into Boris Johnson's claim that immigration has held down wages. What a task! Were his lips moving? Then he's lying. 

 

Which is, essentially, what they discover: immigration has had a marginally negative effect on wages but this is far outweighed by the impact of the financial crisis and rises in the national minimum wage. 

 

For both Mr.Johnson and President Trump, I'd suggest approaching the problem from the other end: don't try and find the lies, try and find the truth. It will be far harder...
