Bad news for the East Midlands, with the news that train maker, Alstom, has an 18 month gap until the next order, and the production of new stock could stop tomorrow.

Not only would the immediate effect be the loss of 3,000 jobs, and a considerable negative regional multiplier effect, but it could have wider implications for the rail supply chain in this country, and that involved between 12-15,000 jobs nationwide.
