janlgordon's curator insight, February 13, 2017 1:09 AM

I selected this article from Curatti written by Alexandra Malis because it provides new insights into how to better grow your Instagram community.

It's important to use organic methods to expand your reach on Instagram.

Improve Your Following on Instagram

Mobile audiences are drawn to authenticity. I agree that you can improve you numbers substantially while avoiding using bots and jailbreaking methods.

Malis shows how to use a quality tool that will enable your business to attract authentic followers.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • Make your Instagram profile look appealing with professional tools and filters. Make sure your descriptions are clear with questions that engage the audience.

  • Look for content in your niche that is similar to yours. Then start interacting with like minded accounts as you discover the most frequently used hashtags for their posts.

  • Go beyond just liking photos on Instagram. Comments are an important part of your marketing strategy. Be careful not to cross over into a spammy conversation and be genuine in your approach.

A Promise Is a Promise

A Promise Is a Promise | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it
Promise to Tell the Whole Truth

A promise is a promise. Some folks apply a rating scale, believing that breaking a big promise is inexcusable, while a small one is acceptable. That’s simply false. While breaking a big promise, such as failing to repay borrowed money, can torpedo a relationship, reneging on promises, such as being on time, casts doubt on future behavior.

Remember, trust is built through a series of experiences shared with others. When behavior is consistent, faith in the relationship develops. When promises are broken or people are misled, the bonds of trust are breached.

Broken promises imply that the offenders either didn’t think before making the promises, or don’t care that they’ve let you down. They’re also implying that their needs are more important than yours. So, be careful about the promises that you make and with whom you make them.

Community shock is what comes after March Schaefer's content shock. This post shares 3 quick tips for winning the coming race to create online community:

Mobile Is The New Black: Make Your Social Media Mobile Friendly | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it
Are you reading this on your mobile device? The probability is likely, considering there are currently 6 billion (and growing!) active mobile devices in the world, and companies continue to tailor their marketing to the small screen of your iPhone.

Great mobile / social Tips Scooped by Brian Yanish (@MarketingHits) including:

* Resize your Facebook posts No bigger than 620 x 320

* Choose Facebook Ads wisely

* Make it visual

* Turn up the content

* Get smart about couponing

* Take advantage of Twitter

* Upload to Instagram

* Utilize Email Marketing

My favorite is getting smart about couponing as that tip can make a real difference to your bottom line especially at this time of year.

Be careful not to have "battling coupons" where one deal wipes out another an check coupon websites like Retail Me Not to make sure they are up to date and don't have old coupon codes that don't work anymore since there is nothing more frustrating than trying to get a deal that is dead.

Joachim Scholz, PhD's curator insight, December 2, 2013 9:24 AM

The first phase of the trend towards mobile is in full swing, and it is time to adapt your marketing strategies for it. Resizing facebook ads, making it more visual and so on are the obvious things to think about, but there is also a second revoultion wrapped in the first: The move to (mobile) content marketing.

To oversimplify: Consumers watch big screens, but they touch small ones!

So the marketing communications you put on consumers' phone screens needs to be much more content oriented, something your consumers will voluntarily seek out. Being a service star in getting consumers the right coupon is a first thing to do, but also add levels of engagement and play. Coke did a great example during the London Olympic Games (on Marketing in Motion, use the Find buttom) for which they created a music DJ/mixing app that allowed consumers to build their own soundtrack to the games and send it to their friends.

How Social Media Will Change This Year and Beyond

Mobile technology and social media have both transformed the way we do business online. In this exclusive interview I cover what's in store for marketers.

Qarbozian asks about how companies will handle these new changes and what automation looks like today.

Here's what caught my attention:

  • While video is growing in importance content is still a vital component to building trust. It's best to focus on the pressing needs of your customers.

  • The days of automation and impersonal communication have now passed. Messages are now more tailored and customized for the audience.

  • As you stay on top of the latest trends and technology add influencers to that list. For example, Gen Z is a demographic growing in importance.

Brilliant Tips On Building Social Collaboration a #mustread | Social Media Today

Brilliant Tips On Building Social Collaboration a #mustread | Social Media Today | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it
From Entertainment to Collaboration outlines the second transition that a company must engage in when moving from advertising to engagement as a core marketing strategy.

Marty Note
This is a MUST READ brilliant post my friend Mark Traphagen (@MarkTraphagen) alerted me to because I've been writing about how brands don't get social (Social Media: It's The Conversation Stupid http://sco.lt/7iZVUP ).

I love the ditch digging details Ted shares in this great post. He all but maps the process of creating successful social collaboration with:

Collaboration can take a number of forms: example archetypes are:

1) commentary on content

2) co-creation of content

3) user-generated content

4) collective action or problem solving

###
That is BRILLIANT work. I've been focused on the conversation, but Ted is right. The conversation is the medium, the currency. The payoff for being present and engaged with customers is collaboration. Great stuff and a must read for any brand or Internet marketer (and there are 2 more installments coming).

Future Of Web Design 2

Future Of Web Design 2 | Daily Magazine | Scoop.it

Web 3.0's Whaam!
Just as Roy Lichtenstein’s Whaam! 1963 seemed to blow abstract painting off the walls web 3.0 will change everything we call "website design". After creating The Future of Web Design #1 (http://sco.lt/7r6zkf) Haiku Deck I realized some shots were fired but not enough.

Web 3.0 powered by a ubiquitous web for people and things with semantic intelligence changes how we create websites and Internet marketing. Math will be a future web designer’s friend.

Websites will float based on predictive analytics and real time behavior. Behavior responded to with tested creative designed for personas and segments to CONVERT is more Google-like than anything web designers create now.

David Merrill's siftables are the best demonstration of how content will become intelligently self aware AND agnostic to the kind of hubificaiton web designers practice now.

http://youtu.be/JP0w9lZoLwU Siftables

Hubificaiton is about bringing THEM to US. APP-ificaiton is about creating agnostic widgets. Widgets easily placed anywhere (as Amazon's mini-cart widget demonstrates here: http://sco.lt/4iahNZ).

Web 3.0's mobile ubiquitous web will reverse hubification's emphasis on traffic density (bring visitors into a hub). Distinctions will change too. THEM and US will fade in favor of relevant experience in a commons.

In this context CONVERSION becomes an extension of an experience instead of the other way around. We rarely shop / search for things merely for the pleasure of the search.

We may start with one goal in mind and end up achieving a different set of goals, goals created on the fly in real time based on how the web responds to our journey, but our process feels like US.

Predictive analytics, personas, segments and an increasing amount of tested creative controlled by math means our unique feeling of US or ME may continue to exist, but THEIR sense of our next behavior make this feeling a distinction without a difference.

If you fit a persona, that persona predicts what relevant content you need when the feeling of having Big Brother on your shoulder could be overwhelming. Mutual benefit is why consumers won't revolt.

When websites convert 40% of their traffic, as Schwan's does now, their efficiency trumps density. Efficiency trumping density describes Web 3.0 perfectly.

Martin (Marty) Smith's curator insight, December 9, 2012 6:42 AM

More And More People Connected To The Web For Longer Amounts of Time is a pretty great graphic and summary of our most Internet marketing future. This excellent article from trusted source Brian Solis implies the death of things such as:

* The static web (everything moves all the time now).

* The lecture web (all content is conversation now).

* The textual web (visuals, visuals and visuals rule).

* The one size fits all web (mobile, social and local now).

* The work web (web worming into all hours now).

The web's working its way into everything from our refrigerator telling us it is time for service to our Social, Local and Mobile dreams and desires is the ubiquitous web, the infinite waterfall web, the web whose presence is taken for granted and ever-present.

In a way we will know we've succeeded as Internet marketers when the word "Internet' is no longer part of our job description. When we return to being "marketers" again because Internet is understood we've safely arrived at our destination - The Next Web.
